Nansoq Organic Village Skardu
There are many beautiful organic villages in Gilgit Baltistan region; however, Nansoq Organic village Skardu is one of them which is very popular in the region especially in Pakistan. There is no any road for Nansoq village, people comes here from Skardu by foot. Old traditional balti life style is found in this village with minimal use of machinery and synthetic materials. The organic village is a symbol to show how important the organic way of life is. The life style of people in this village is far away from modern living. People are still using old Balti cultural and traditional things. There are old cultural things, vintage style houses, cattle, cow farming and totally rely on agriculture.
Balti Traditional Items – Nansoq Organic Village Skardu
Some Balti old traditional things like Qaar (a warm shaal), Faxa (a cotton bag), Dari (carpet), Pula (Shoes), Zaang / Kwaat (cooker), and many other old traditional and cultural things are found in Nansoq organic village. This village attract tourists towards itself as there are found old life style of Balti people. Every year many tourist reaches to this village for tourism and sightseeing. The people of nansoq village do not prefer to use machinery things and other artificial things/products which normally we use in our daily lives. This is the reason one of the most important reason that the organic valley of Nansoq is a best tourist place in Skardu city.
Location (Nansoq Organic Village Skardu)
It takes about 30 minutes walking distance from Skardu city. After reaching Skardu city from down cities, you have to turn towards Khaphocho fort. From the below side of Kharphocho Fort, there is a cool path that takes you to this wonderful place. It is a very pretty and different path from the modern style of life. The path is calm, and the village feels fresh and quiet. If you want to see everything, plan to spend a day in this village. In starting, the walk is hard, so be careful if you have kids as the river is going on side and the end of the walk is easier to reach this destination.
Population of Nansoq Organic Village Skardu
The population of this village is about 75 people live there, in about 17 or 18 families. For more get to know the place, you should stay here for at least 08 hours.
As A Tourism Place
Skardu is a city where thousands of tourists visit every each month from April to September during the peak season. The tourist enjoy the weather and the natural beauty of the valley, mountains, and lush green valleys.
Some Negligence from Tourists
During the last two or three years, we saw many issues arise there because of some careless people who damages the fruit trees and many other tree branches. Many different fruits are available here; if you want to eat those fruits the people allow them to eat these fruits for free without any charges. However, the tourists break the tree branches which are strictly not allowed to anyone even if the owner of these fruit trees does not break these branches. Many people did not know about this village being no knowledge. This is the first settlement of this area that was purposefully developed as an organic village in order to promote this healthy lifestyle.
Trekking
Doing trekking towards this beautiful village, you can enjoy every moment. You can see Chumik area of Skardu, Kharphocho fort, Sarfaranga Cold Desert and beautiful mountains of Karakoram and Hamalya. After reaching Skardu city, you have to start you trekking from the neighborhood Kharpocho fort. It is a beginner level trek of around 3 kilometers that takes you on a scenic route along the Indus river with some spectacular views of the valley. It takes around 30 minutes reach the village by walking and enjoying on a gradually inclining rocky path. You also come across a few wooden bridges along with indus river.
Life Style of Nansoq Organic Village Skardu
The people of this village spent their lives very simple. They grow organic vegetables, fruits and catch fish from indus river. Their houses are simple and they life style are traditional without any modern gadgets. There are no more health or education facilities. The students come to Skardu city schools, colleges and university for their education. Children have to walk all the way to Skardu every day on foot to attend their classes. If they face any health issue, then they comes to RHQ Hospital Skardu which is not away from their village. In case of emergencies regarding health, there is a boat that locals use for going to the city. This place has the potential to be developed into a popular tourist spot. Prince Charles has also visited Nansoq village a few years ago. He enjoyed here while seeing organic life style of this villagers. There is also a fish farm, where you can do fishing and also available fishy foods. You can also do camping here, as it is a safe place for camping. There are no proper hotels or guest houses available in this area. One local recently converted his old home into a traditional guest house, but you need to check its availability of grocery items, if you are planning to camping there before going at there. Some grocery items should be purchased from Skardu city if you want to stay here for a day or more.
